Investing in Australia's Indigenous Communities and preserving their
heritage
The directors of 'artabout', Dia Goldenfein and Zorita Sormann, are
sisters who have been involved in art and design related fields for
many years. artabout was established in 2003 to consolidate their
appreciation of and commitment to Indigenous Art and Culture.
Extensive travel in the Western Desert and Arnham land has allowed
Dia and Zorita to establish good relations with many important Elder
artists, exciting emerging artists and their well-regarded
representatives. As a result, they have souced an impressive
collection of artworks that are strongly contemporary in their
emphasis. Dia and Zorita are also able to commission new work from a
large stable of highly respected artists.
artabout is conscious of ensuring that all of the artists, whose
work they carry, are properly remunerated and that all works sold
are accompanied by certificates of authenticity.
In the short time since the inception of artabout, Dia and Zorita
have curated two successful exhibitions, created art displays at
corporate showrooms and placed many works in private collections.

Art Portfolios
An Aboriginal Art portfolio could be highly focused on an individual
artist or an art community or could include a variety of artists and
styles in your collection. artabout consultants can help you build an
art portfolio that meets your taste, which will also optimise your
investment potential.
Art Rentals
If you have a short term need to decorate your home or office, or feel
that your tastes may change over time, artabout provides the opportunity
to rent a single painting or a whole portfolio to meet your short or
long term requirements. Rentals offer businesses affordable access to
original artworks by leading emerging and established indigenous
artists. Renting art makes great sense - there’s no capital outlay,
rental payments are typically tax deductible for businesses and you have
the flexibility to rotate works.
Investing in Artwork
Quality Art has always been a store of value and a vehicle for capital
appreciation. What was once the domain of the wealthy, art collecting
has become a lucrative investment opportunity open to just about
everyone.
Australian and International art experts have recently recognised the
unique power and beauty of Aboriginal art, with major international
exhibitions in Paris and around the world showing off some of
Australia's leading indigenous artists. Paintings on canvas are a
relatively new feature of Australia's Indigenous art. artabout believes
that the growing appreciation of aboriginal painting and artefacts will
become part of a substantial international art movement, providing for
long term value enhancement.
Investing for profit
Australian and indigenous art in particular, has developed into a
significant and growing industry. In recent years, investors in quality
art have profited from sustained value growth, which confirms indigenous
art as a compelling alternative investment class.
Investing for Pleasure
Unlike other investments, you can enjoy your art investment every day
without depreciating its value. Art has the very unique benefit of
potential value appreciation while it simply hangs on your wall.
artabout says: "Buy pieces that you like because if you like it, when
its time to sell others will like it too". This should maximise the
likelihood of generating a capital return.
Diversification
Unlike property and shares, the art market is considerably less volatile
and less sensitive to economic crises and geopolitical events than other
assets.
The strength of art as a wealth creation vehicle over the long term can
also make an excellent addition to self-managed super funds provided
certain rules are followed.
