She was married to Yala Yala Gibbs Tjungurrayi and was amongst those Pintupi people who walked into Papunya in the early years of settlement.

In 1966 she was part of a group of elderly women from Kintore and Kiwirrkura who began painting for Papunya Tula Artists in their own right.

Characteristic of her work is a strong dynamism and rich linear composition created with heavy layers of paint.

She has participated in several group shows of Papunya Tula artists.

Ningurra has been honoured to be amongst 8 Australian Indigenous artists to be chosen for the permanent installations at the new Musee du Quai Branley which has recently been opened on the banks of the Seine in Paris.
